When someone is planning or has recently undergone a major medical procedure, we recommend they consult with their physician about the timing of SHUTi. Make sure your doctor knows that SHUTi is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia.
Many people opt to delay SHUTi until their sleep is back to its "typical" (poor but normal) picture before starting. If surgery and recovery have further worsened or changed your sleep, you and your physician may opt to prioritize recovery and sleeping when possible (as opposed to following prescriptive 'rules' about when to sleep, etc.)
If you ultimately opt to start sooner, we'd be happy to offer you access to SHUTi and then the ability to restart your account from the beginning once you are more fully recovered and sleeping without opiate regimen (if that is the ultimate plan). Essentially, we're happy to accommodate what you and your physician thinks makes the most sense.
